draped over my desk waiting to have her binding sewn on.

yay! done and on it’s place on the back of the sofa …. just happens to be a favorite napping and watching birds spot for the cats. made to be sturdy and hold up to many washings

and while I was at it, I stitched up a matching topper for my box valance. (please ignore the tarnished creamer. i sat it there to steady the grapevine and forgot to take it down. ha!)

have a great day! rosie
here’s the beginning ….

this is not the “right” way but this is the way I do it

i am using a buttercream matelasse for my back with 2 prints of ivory and cream from Bits and Pieces by Fabri-Quilt and some of my stash of “all cotton” from Alexander Henry.

as my helper is helping to illustrate, i make my throws without batting. the matelasse is a substantial weight and I use these all year round so I like how they feel and look without. I love strips whether they are all the same fabric or blocks. I seam the strips right onto the backing ~ quilting (straight rows) as I go. Is this according to the rules? no … but I like it, it’s fun, and it’s quick

i’ll be finishing this up soon and will most likely have the finished project pictures tomorrow ((hugs)) rosie
here’s a update on home decorating project #1

before thanksgiving, we had taken down our curtain rods and painted the walls raw silk. i then decided to bring a 6′ wall shelf and peg board up from the lower level and place it over the window. the holidays hit, the garland and lights went up, and that is where it ended until last week.
(sorry no picture of the bare shelf but trust me there’s pegs hidden in that garland!)
i wanted to cover the top of the shelf and have curtains at the side with out putting up any additional hardware. so, i did this …

the box valance is the black and ivory ticking stripe. attached to that is a the small black and ivory check, softly pleated. I serged off a ribbon of the black and ivory toile and placed it over the seam joining the two treatments. i like it!

not positive what’s next. i like layers, so, perhaps a quilted piece (triangle) over the shelf over the middle ….. something I can change out seasonally or whenever the mood hits. what am I hanging from the pegs? don’t know the answer to that question either! I’ll let you know.
have a great week!
