Thought I’d do a couple posts on some skirts I made in between working on Marty’s Quilt. I started with a print from a collection designed by Valori Wells called Olive Rose.

I loved the variety of browns in this fabric all placed on a lt gray background.

draped over my desk waiting to have her binding sewn on.

yay! done and on it’s place on the back of the sofa …. just happens to be a favorite napping and watching birds spot for the cats. made to be sturdy and hold up to many washings

i am using a buttercream matelasse for my back with 2 prints of ivory and cream from Bits and Pieces by Fabri-Quilt and some of my stash of “all cotton” from Alexander Henry.

What keeps sewing interesting is the variety of fabrics available to illicit any response or feel you want to achieve.

I’ve started making the piecework squares that I make for my skirts larger to get a longer skirt. I’ve had a lot of requests for longer skirts and once they’re made, I can’t add to them. [...] No related posts.

I’ll be taking this down to Lola tomorrow…hope she likes her MumMum’s first efforts at making, what I affectionately call, cheater quilts.

again, I just used leftover flannel from when I was briefly making diapers and burp cloths and a piece of matelasse for the back. everything was on hand in my stash.
