well, the holidays have come and gone with all their flurry. have you put away your Christmas decorations?

i still have my pine boughs and lights around the inside of the windows but not for much longer. i decided over the holidays to order new material to make window coverings and to make quilted throws for the pets/sofas/me. here’s what i bought…
they are 54″ home dec cottons from Fabric.com. This is the kind of 100% cotton home dec fabric that always says “dry clean only” …. well, I say bull hockey! just order extra yardage and wash and dry … only wash and dry before you make, so all the shrinkage happens then! in my experience, the fabric shrinks very little in width but may shrink up to 10% in length…plan according! this will be my neutral palette that i can add to with the colors of the season or holiday.

i know they must come down but i have to admit the sparkly lights in the pine boughs is cheery and i’m not looking forward to losing that extra bit of glow.
well, that is my first home project for 2010. what’s yours?
tomorrow, I’ll be back with some studio thoughts ~rosie~
